Mendittorosa - Archetipo | Perfume Review.

 Mendittorosa – Archetipo.

Archetipo a word derived from Greeks which breaks down to 'Archein', which means "original or old"; and 'Typos',which means "pattern, model or type. Archetipo or Archetype in English is a pattern that already is a part of us since before we knew it or acknowledged it.  Swiss Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst, who found Analytical Psychology Dr. Carl Gustav Jung, had a theory ' The Collective Unconscious', which states that all of our minds are interlinked like bee hive. This might not make sense yet, but then, we all share a common ancestor and with it come a set of ancient patterns and types, ways of understanding and knowing about the complex reality, these can all be termed as Archetypes, or in Italian 'Archetipo'.  The Archetypes exist in our mind before our conscious thought, and hence and have a powerful impact on our perception of an experience.

Best example, as a child or a new born how did we manage to remember the smell of our parents, especially our mother, why is it that only in their arms did we seek shelter? The knowledge of their smell, that moment where you realize you're with someone who will never harm you is a pattern which is Archetipo, already coded in our mind irrespective of the culture, cast, creed, race, boundaries or communication. One such relation that we all share since the time of our ancestors is the one with the plants and forests. We've lived with them, in them; grew in them, around them, eat what they lent us and still do.

This scent in my best knowledge speaks of a pattern which reminds us of our ancestors, the ones who lived in jungles, felt one with nature, smelt everything, used their olfactory sense for tracking and hunting, it transports us to that time and shows us how the pattern of smell is something we don’t learn but we are programmed with it.

In my imagination this the smell is like Man in a forest is practicing a ritual by burning some incense, spices and woods while it is dark and cold, the land around him is wet because its been raining all day, the barks of the tree that he's using is a rare find and important for the ritual, this bark has some resins stuck on it which mingles with the smoke. The fire demands sacrifice of precious things, he has only some Vetiver roots for fragrances, patchouli and Balms for treatment and this is when he decided to give everything he has. I don’t know what he wants but the smoke does tell a lot with its spicy, fierce aroma mixed with the dampness of the earth below which gives its aroma to the smoke as well. Everyone surrenders to the fire, even the earth and yet its aroma of such raw and mesmerizing, almost like an addiction.

This scent is not beautiful or royal. It is different, audacious and thought provoking scent only if you wish to acquire more knowledge on that thought or subject. The perfume in itself is treasure. It’s not something everyone would carry, like or even want to have. If I have to strictly explain this perfume for a beginner then I'd say that this smells like a hippie or may be a guy who's just weird.  I love the scent, I'd leave it your good judgment if I am a weirdo or not.
